Outlaws Unleashed

by blueZhift on Jul.28, 2008, under Anime, Manga, Etc

Any weekend that I get an AMV project completed counts as a pretty good one. I’m pretty happy with my latest one, Outlaws Unleashed set to the tune of Endless Possibility, a wonderfully upbeat song by Jaret Reddick of Bowling for Soup. I first heard this song in the Sonic Unleashed trailer from E3 and fell in love with the trailer and the song. So I’ve tried to keep the feeling of speed as an homage to the trailer that inspired this AMV.

Brickyard 400 Craptacular Tires

by blueZhift on Jul.27, 2008, under Games and Sports

I’m watching NASCAR’s Brickyard 400 today and I’m absolutely appalled at the tire situation. The tires that Goodyear provided for the race don’t seem to be lasting more than 10 to 20 laps, failing with deadly consequences. Matt Kenseth’s right rear tire just detonated taking out the whole window and quarter panel back there before sending him into a spin! In a 160 lap race, I don’t see how this can possibly work out. Makes one wonder if having one company make tires for everyone is such a good idea…

Wish – from Shenmue Video Game

by blueZhift on Jul.26, 2008, under Games and Sports

Shenmue is another one of those underappreciated video games that for various reasons did not do as well as hoped for in terms of market success. Nevertheless, I’m still a big fan of it, and after searching for a complete romaji lyrics set for Wish, the song during the motorcycle ride after Ryo rescues Nozomi, I finally got around to transliterating them myself. My Japanese skill is nil, but I post these here in the hope that they will be useful to others who love this song as I do.

Music: Hirota Yoshitaka
Vocal: Isayama Mio

Itsuka mieta yume no youni
Ho ho wo na re te to ri sukiru
Umiye tsunagaru ho to wo
Shia no ka ori hako bu yo

Itoshi saga
Yasashi uso
Tsukaseru maeru
Sabishi sao
Ima daite hoshi inoni

I wish you will always be here with me
Ikutsu no yoru ako ete mo
Komiageru setsuna saba yuku ate mo nai mamate

Don’t leave me alone
Till morning still we see
Kono mune wayu ete yuketo
Madaka eni dakunai oshi na kia mo made mou sukoshi

Meguru ki setsuno naka de na nasare sonina
Tato kino
Kitto kono kimochi dake
Ama ikaori no go suyo
Senanakara kita kotomo
Nakita kunaata
Inori ni mo mita omoi dakishimete

I wish you will always be by my side
Ikutsu no yoru ako ete mo
Nemuretsuni hitsuo dakake
Sabishi sa mote a masu dake

Don’t leave me alone
You’ll see my fearless side
Kawa anai tsuyoi hitomi
Demo modora naikoto wakaata ii dakara mou sukoshi

[instrumental w some vocalizations]

If you will always be by my side
There is no sorrows and tears in my eyes
Can’t live without you
Why do you have to decide
You won’t be a–ware of my pains and lies
Don’t leave me alone, stay with me—-
But I know you do not get back
I remember you forever

Suburban Fashion Po-Lice

by blueZhift on Jul.20, 2008, under General

I’m sure that the Lynwood IL police are just thrilled that their police academy training is going to be put to use making sure that guys are not showing more than 3 inches of their underwear in public. Lynwood has just passed a law that levies $25 fines on people wearing excessively baggy underwear exposing pants. Since this fashion is favored by a mostly African American and Latino demographic, I suppose some police officers will relish yet another excuse to harass these young men. But most, the vast majority of police men and women would much prefer to be protecting us from real criminals rather than acting as fashion police.

Amok Times, Yeah!

by blueZhift on Jul.18, 2008, under General

My lady’s been out of town the past few days so in true guy fashion we’ve been running totally amok here! Yeah!XD Okay okay, that’s just a joke, she might actually read this digital rag of mine, so I’m just kidding around. I do take a more laid back approach to kids and things, but I only allow ordered pockets of chaos. It’s been nice knowing that she’s off having fun and the rest of us can take a breather too! Of course it will be nice having her back home soon, but not before I have a chance to send the strippers home! Still joking, yeah…

Baaad Boys!

by blueZhift on Jul.12, 2008, under Anime, Manga, Etc

I’ve always enjoyed the AMV Hell videos so I decided to make my own very short clip and get some practice lip synching at the same time. I think it turned out okay, but I fear the humor is lost on anyone who isn’t familiar with the manga and anime series, Princess Princess.

A Perfect Model Moment

by blueZhift on Jul.01, 2008, under General

I take my lunch time walks as much for the sights as for the exercise a couple of days ago I was definitely not disappointed. On my way back I was stopped at an intersection on N Michigan waiting for the light to change. Across the street was an attractive woman with light brown hair, a white skirt with black trim, white open-toed pumps through which I could see red polished toes. All in all, a wonderful sight, but the thing that sent me into orbit was how, perhaps unconsciously, she struck a perfect model pose! I mean absolutely perfect! I wish I had some way of telling her what she had just so casually done…

On a related note, I’ve just discovered a new show I like, TV Land’s She’s Got the Look is quite an unexpected treat. It’s like America’s Top Model, but featuring women over 35. I don’t know what the ratings are like, but it’s nice to see some very attractive (ie hawt) older women on TV for a change! Here’s overview of the show from Self Magazine.
